Today (Tuesday 4 June 2013) McCallums Hill Public School debaters had their second debate in the Sydney Schools Debating Competition. Our students, debated against the students from Kingsgrove Public School. We had two confident teams representing our school. The topic for the debate was 'Should we ban the keeping of animals in zoos?' Both our teams were the affirmative team.
Our teams were:
Team A:
1st speaker: Leena. Z.
2nd speaker: Ali.H.
3rd speaker: Tia.E.
Team Advisor: Leon.K.
Team B:
1st speaker: Raneem.E.
2nd speaker: Aneet.B.
3rd speaker: Jayson K.
Team Advisor: Carmen S.
Both Team A & Team B unfortunately lost this debate.
All students provided strong arguments, spoke with confidence and tried their best. We need to focus more on our rebuttals so as to persuade the audience that our arguments are relevant and of importance! Well done to both teams!!
Both Mrs Vajdevski and Mrs Halabi are very proud of the students who represented our school in the debating competition. Our next debate will be sometime next week and will be held at McCallums Hill P.S.
Thank you to all the parents who have helped transport students to and from venues for our debates.
