NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.
During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.
You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.
Visit the department’s website for more information about religion and ethics.
At Our School
Special Religious Education (SRE) and Special Ethics Education (SEE), usually called Scripture/Ethics classes run at our school.
Students will be placed into the SRE/SEE group (if available) that parents nominated on their child’s enrolment form. Parents can change their choice by sending a letter to the school.
Students who do not attend an SRE class are provided with meaningful activities during the time the other students attend a SRE class. Meaningful activities include things like completing worksheets to practise previously learnt skills such as reading, research, spelling and mathematics times-tables or number facts.
At our school parents of students not choosing an SRE group, may opt for their child to attend Ethics Classes (SEE).
